This one-day workshop will introduce participants to the Van Dyck Brown process - an easy, inexpensive and versatile process that produces beautiful sepia prints with a long tonal range.
In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to coat art paper with light-sensitive chemicals, before exposing it to light and processing to make your own Van Dyck Brown prints.
The workshop covers the basics of the process, including:
- Paper choice and preparation
- Mixing and storing the VDB solution
- Coating, exposing and processing paper
- Finishing your prints
What to bring
All materials will be provided. We prepare digital negatives for you before the workshop, so you will need to email us a selection of high resolution digital images one week before the workshop, and you can also bring flat objects like leaves, feathers etc if you'd like to make photograms.
